Well this is a new one for me! I saw the product on my list of review items and thought ‘Slippery what?!’ So, after some research and learning, it turns out this herb (yeah it’s a herb!) is pretty handy! It can be applied locally to draw out toxins, applied to wounds, burns or inflammation to help with healing and reducing swelling and pain. Most commonly though, it is used to help soothe different types of digestive complaints from IBS, colitis, reflux and general gut inflammation. Usual recommended dose would be about one teaspoon mixed with a little water to make a paste, then slowly add half a cup or so of boiling water, stirring or whisking the whole time. Can consume 2-3 cups a day.
If the idea of drinking the stuff doesn’t tickle your fancy, another great option is to buy our Fibre Max blend. It is a great price and a mixture of psyllium, linseed, ricebran, oat bran and Slippery Elm powder…..what a ripper combination! It could be used interchangeably for LSA, linseed meal or potentially even almond meal! Experiment people!
So this week, check out the Slippery Elm powder or Fibre Max blend at Nana’s Pantry, be adventurous, try something new…you never know, your belly just might thank you for it!
